Creemore Ontario is a small town with a big product -- beer. The Creemore Springs brewery, using fresh spring water from the slopes of the Niagara Escarpment, makes some of Ontario's most popular crafted beers and ales.
Touring the brewery gets you samples of their beers as well as an insight into beer-making.
It's a pretty town nestled among the slopes of the escarpment, even the brewhouse (shown here) and brewery (below), in old buildings on Mill Street, don't detract from the 'old Ontario' feel.
Antique shops, bakeries and coffee shops make up much of the attractions on the rest of Mill Street as befits a town that is well on the beaten path for Ontario tourers, as it should be.
And it should be on your itinerary whenever you're in the Collingwood and Blue Mountain area.
The Brewery is the biggest draw in town and it's open to visitors most days of the year. For latest details, see the link below.
This isn't a giant industrial brewery, as the photo shows. Creemore Springs fits between the on-site micro-brewery that many pubs now boast and the national brewers, which in Canada are Molsons and Labatts.
Speaking of pubs and brewers, you can't get your beer any fresher than right across the street from Creemore Springs brewhouse in the Old Mill Pub where the restaurant provides great meals and an opportunity to enjoy more of whichever brewery sample you liked best.
Visit in summer and sit outside to enjoy a cool refreshing pint or, in the cooler months, indoors in the cosy warmth of a neighbourhood pub.
Creemore is set in very pretty country, with the Niagara Escarpment towering to the west and rolling hills to the east. The escarpment and its slopes make for a beautiful drive from spring, through summer, to fall. Winter is also beautiful here but the winding roads and steep hills take the edge off the pleasure somewhat.
In the country around Creemore are a number of waterfalls that are popular beauty spots.
This waterfall one is Eugenia Falls at Lake Eugenia with its boating and fishing docks around the edge.
Other sites of interest near Creemore Ontario include the Osprey Wetlands and Minesing Wetlands conservation areas for those interested in wildlife and, to the south, the Mansfield Outdoor Centre with cross-country skiing and mountain biking (in summer).
Also in the Creemore area are the Snowshoe and Horsehoe Resorts, both with activities for all seasons though they're best known for skiing.
In addition, there are golf courses and other more focused attractions nearby.
