Southern Ontario Ski ResortsThere are three large southern ontario ski resorts in the eastern Greater Toronto Area, Lakeridge, Dagmar, and Brimacombe (was called Kirby for many years). They're all worth a visit.Dagmar and Lakeridge can be really busy at weekends because they are nearer north-east Toronto , and also near the towns of Pickering, Ajax and Whitby. Brimacombe is farther east, just off Hwy 115, north of Hwy 401 so it has a smaller population to draw from and, with its many runs and lifts, is easily the quietest of the three.
Lakeridge and Dagmar are about 45 mins from downtown Toronto, Brimacombe probably 90 minutes, just follow the 401 east to Salem in Ajax and follow the signs for Lakeridge and Dagmar, or keep on the 401 to Hwy 115 and head north until you see
the signs for Brimacombe. This photo is of a jump at Dagmar.
If you're a snowboarder, Dagmar and Lakeridge seem like your best options, and Brimacombe if you're a skier. Brimacombe is also the 'home' of the
Oshawa
ski club so that may be the reason.
There are 23 runs (some with moguls) at Lakeridge, 3 snowboard terrain parks (Little Razor, Little Rogers Mini, and Razors Edge) all being served by 3 lifts. The Beginner Hill also has a magic carpet 'lift'. Lakeridge also has these great snow tubing runs; it's like tobogganing on steroids. Dagmar is about 5 km further south than Lakeridge on Lakeridge rd, and its north facing slopes keep the snow when the surrounding countryside is bare.
It has fewer runs (17) than Lakeridge and not so long for the most part but it does have two great snowboard terrain parks (The Compound and the Impound), including this airbag jump (open only on weekends), 4 chairlifts and 2 magic carpets.

Brimacombe has 21 runs and 2 terrain parks (a beginners and the main park for seasoned snowboarders and skiers), and has been rated 'best in the snow business' by the Canadian Ski Council. To get you to the top of the hills, it has 3 chairlifts, 5 T-bars and a magic carpet.
All three of the resorts have food and drink at their chalets where you can get fast food or, at Dagmar, dinner with wine, useful if you're staying for the night skiing. The resorts all have Pro Shops and Ski Schools. For more Ontario Ski Resorts, visit our page

Lakeridge has runs for skiing, a half-pipe for snowboards and carving skis, and great tubing slides. Many of Lakeridge's runs are south and west facing so the day lasts that bit longer here.
Dagmar also has a cross-country ski chalet with a number of trails into the surrounding forest and fields.
